We're reopening the waiting line
Hi everyone! 👋
Remember when we closed the waiting line 2 months ago because it was getting out of control? Well, we're back with a better system!
What's changing?
We're reopening submissions, but with two launch options to choose from:
Option 1: Join the line - $4.99
- Get in line and launch when your turn comes
- Much more affordable
- Still way faster than the old 5-month wait!
Option 2: Skip the line - $30
- Pick any available date you want
- Launch immediately or schedule for later
- Perfect if you have a specific timeline or if you want to maximize your chances and visibility
Why the change? 🤔
I know a few of you are going to be disappointed by this change: Uneed isn't free anymore. I understand 🥹.
There are a few reasons why we're doing this. First, let's be real: we only want great products on Uneed. That's been our goal since the beginning. But we kind of failed at it this year: we saw A LOT of low-quality products published on Uneed, sometimes products that were already shut down when they were launched 😅.
But we're not here to be a dumping ground for AI wrappers that get thrown away a few days after a failed launch. We also don't want to be like our main competitor and drawn indie hackers products among a sea of products launching the same, resulting in most of them not getting featured.
We considered a lot of different options to solve this problem, like manual reviews, AI filter, auctions, etc. But we didn't find a solution that would be fair for everyone, easy to understand and that would actually work.
That's why we decided to make the waiting line paid. Not much: $4.99 seems like a reasonable price to pay for a lifetime backlink. But it should be enough to filter out most of the low-quality products.
Plus, there's a big change: you no longer need a certain number of upvotes to stay published on the website. Once you're in, you're in for life. No more stress about getting removed! ✅
The build in public part 🛠️
Full transparency: this is an experiment. For those who don't know, I'm a solo founder, and taking those kind of decisions as its share of risks 😅.
My goals are simple:
- ✅ Improve the overall quality of products on Uneed
- ✅ Keep it accessible for everyone
- ✅ Reduce the waiting line length
- ✅ Make sure every product gets proper visibility
But here's the thing - if we don't get at least 10 launching products every day, I might need to try something different. But it's going very well so far!
