Introducing Uneed Community

The new version of Uneed is finally here, and it's big!

Hey friends 😊.

Today marks a pivotal moment for Uneed. We're not just launching a new feature; we're transforming what Uneed is all about.

Why We Built This

Let's be honest: we had a problem. People would visit Uneed once to support their friends' launches, upvote their products, and then... disappear. We became (like our competitors 👀) a one-time-use platform, and that's not what we wanted to be.

We realized that indie hackers, builders, and makers needed more than just a launch platform. They needed a place to hang out, share their journey, get feedback, and connect with like-minded people—not just on launch day, but every single day.

What is Uneed Community?

Think of it as Product Hunt meets X (Twitter), but built specifically for people who make things.

Uneed Community is where you can:

  • Share updates about your projects
  • Post polls to get quick feedback from other builders
  • Engage in discussions with the indie hacker community
  • Connect with other makers on the same journey

This is version 1.0. We've focused on the essentials: posts, comments, and polls. No bloat, no unnecessary features—just what you need to start building connections.

Our Principles

We're building Uneed Community differently. Here's what guides us:

No algorithm games: Your posts get seen based on relevance and engagement, not because you cracked some mysterious algorithm.

No engagement farming: We're optimizing for quality conversations, not viral moments. No "tag 3 friends" nonsense.

Real builders, real conversations: This is a place for people who actually make things. Authentic updates, honest feedback, genuine connections.

Quality over viral moments: We'd rather have 10 thoughtful posts that spark real discussions than 100 low-effort posts chasing likes.

What We've Learned in 48 Hours

The launch has been incredibly encouraging, but it's also shown us something important: we need to focus on quality over quantity.

Over the next few weeks, we won't be rushing to ship new features. Instead, we're taking time to implement better moderation tools and systems to ensure the content on Uneed Community remains valuable, authentic, and helpful. We'd rather have 10 meaningful posts a day than 100 low-effort ones! More on this soon :).

What's Coming Next

This is just the beginning. Here's what we're building:

Public Todo Lists: Share what you're working on and get accountability from the community.

Waitlist Management: Run your product waitlist directly from Uneed, with built-in tools to engage your early users.

Public Roadmaps: Let your users see what you're building next and gather feedback before you code.

Native Mobile App: A dedicated mobile experience for the community, so you can stay connected wherever you are.

Premium Membership: For our most engaged members, we're working on a premium tier with exclusive perks and features.

And that's just what we have planned right now. As we grow together with our community, we'll keep listening and building what you actually need.

Our Vision

We want Uneed to become the place where indie hackers feel at home. Where you launch your products, yes, but also where you:

  • Share your wins and losses
  • Find collaborators and friends
  • Get honest feedback
  • Stay motivated on the hard days
  • Celebrate with people who understand the journey

We're not trying to replace other platforms. We're creating something new—a space that's built for builders, by builders.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Uneed Community free?

Yes, it's completely free to join and use. We're exploring a premium tier for power users in the future, but the core community will always be free.

Do I need to have launched a product on Uneed to join?

Not at all. Whether you've launched 10 products or you're just starting your first project, you're welcome here. You can use the community to prepare your launch, get feedback, and connect with other builders.

How is this different from other communities?

We're laser-focused on builders and makers. No influencers farming engagement, no self-promotion spam, no growth hacks. Just real people building real things and helping each other along the way.

Will there be moderation?

Yes. We're committed to keeping the quality high. Low-effort posts, spam, and engagement farming will be moderated. We want every post to add value to the community.

Can I promote my product?

Absolutely, but do it the right way. Share your journey, ask for feedback, post updates about what you're building. The community wants to support you, but nobody likes being sold to constantly.
