Screen To GIF is a Chrome extension that records a tab, an app window or any region of your screen and saves it as a GIF, MP4 or WebM. Frame the area, press record, then trim, crop and change the speed in the built-in editor before you save. You choose the output resolution and bitrate at save time, with a live estimate of the file size. Recording and encoding happen on your own computer: nothing is uploaded and there is no watermark. Because it runs inside Chrome, it works the same on Mac, Windows, Linux and ChromeOS.
Made for showing rather than describing: steps to reproduce a bug in a GitHub issue or Jira ticket, a UI interaction in a design review, a short how-to for a colleague or a class.
