Caza de Casa

Inspired by @michael_andreuzza's post earlier last week which showed a screenshot from his product #Kobbe analytics of a globe with real time visitors I added a new web page to the #Caza de Casa site showing recent searches made by people using the platform.

I knew for a while I wanted to build something for Caza de Casa which featured a globe but wasn't sure what to show on it and last week I finally had an idea I thought would be highly beneficial and help convince more hosts to advertise their property with us.

It's not fully finished because I haven't optimised the design for mobile but hopefully I should get that done today and then I can share a link with you all.

Last week a lot of the work was improving the existing web listing page for #Caza de Casa

It's built with Flutter and was released for the first time earlier this year.

Here's what was added / fixed last week:

• When tapping on a photo or taping on Contact Host that it wouldn't change the location in the address bar

• Skeleton loading effect added - previous I just had the Caza de Casa logo pulsing while Flutter Web and the listing data was loading

• Changed the favicon which had a white background to one which has a transparent background

• Fixed a bug where going back and forward after tapping on a photo would cause the photos page to no longer display

• Improved the loading speeds of the listing page when navigating directly to and cold loading a listing's photos page (e.g. https://cazadecasa.xyz/listing/251/photos)

Last week I spent the majority of the time fixing a couple of bugs within the admin screens of the Caza de Casa mobile app

This is where I would review newly added properties before approving them to be published and available for our users to browse

We had a silly bug where the internal state in the admin screen wouldn't update after approving a property (but it would be updated in our database) which meant every time I did this I had to kill the app to see have the change update on the admin page

This was something which was a low priority but with an uptick in properties being added to Caza de Casa I thought it was a good time to finally fix it

The latest blog post that I published for the Caza de Casa blog about the Distrito Palermo in Medellín is appearing in the Images section in the results to a Google Search for "distrito palermo medellin"

I've never had any of our blogs appear in this image section before

It feels pretty cool to see it there

I spent time this afternoon looking at the total unique users for Caza de Casa the past 6 months

A big spike in users during the month of March lead me down the rabbit hole of trying to identify if there was a particular reason for this

The only factor I could identify that was different was that March was one of the months I was most active on the Facebook page sharing 4 properties and 2 blog posts

One thing I haven't been doing is tracking with UTMs which would help identify the cause of spikes a lot easier
