Step1st helps you put doomscrolling behind a step goal.
Pick the apps that pull you into endless scrolling, set a daily step goal, and those apps stay behind that goal until you move enough.
I originally built Step1st for my mom, after watching short videos quietly replace movement in her daily routine. Traditional Screen Time limits were too easy to ignore, while hard blockers felt too punishing. Step1st is designed as a softer kind of friction: enough to interrupt autopilot, flexible enough for real life.
The goal is adjustable. That is intentional. The point is not to trap people, but to make opening distracting apps a conscious choice instead of a reflex.
Why it is different:
- Step-gated access to selected apps
- Works with Apple Screen Time and Apple Health
- No account required
- No location tracking
- Designed for real families, not productivity maximalists
- Includes Olo, a warm little mascot that makes the app feel less punitive
Free to download, with optional monthly and yearly Pro subscriptions.
