Informity AI is a free Mac app that indexes your local documents and lets you ask questions across all of them — and now translate them locally too. Every answer cites the exact source file — click it and the document opens.
The entire pipeline runs on your machine: document processing, embeddings, vector search, AI inference, and chat history. Nothing is ever uploaded anywhere. No cloud, no accounts, no subscriptions. Works offline after the initial model download.
Two modes:
- Researcher: asks questions across your full indexed document library with source citations
- Assistant: upload a single file directly into chat for focused analysis or open-ended chat
Document translation: load a document, pick tone, get a translated output with quality scoring, export to Markdown or plain text — all local.
Specializations tune the AI's reading and analysis style per chat.
Supports PDF, DOCX, XLSX, PPTX, CSV, EPUB, Markdown, HTML, TXT and more.
Models: Qwen3.6 35B A3B (default), 14B and 9B for lower-spec machines, Apple Silicon optimized. Ollama support for any model you prefer.
Free, MIT licensed, open source.
Requires Mac with Apple Silicon (M1 or later) · 16GB RAM minimum · 24GB recommended.
