Hey! π
I'm a software engineer based in Madrid. Over 10 years in the industry, I've seen dozens of job offers in different countries β and every time, the same question: would I actually be better off?
The salary always looks higher. But is it really, after local taxes? And after rent, groceries, transport in a city I've never lived in? To figure it out, I'd open a cost of living tool, then a tax calculator for that specific country, then a currency converter β 3 tabs, 30 minutes, and I still wasn't sure.
So I built ShouldIMove. One step: enter your gross salary in two cities, and it shows your net pay after local taxes, adjusted for real living costs and currency. Plus a clear verdict.
Some results surprised me. For some cities I'd need to earn way more than expected just to match my current lifestyle in Madrid. But other times, an offer that didn't look great on paper turned out to be a real upgrade once taxes and living costs were factored in.
