The best alternatives to Gumroad in 2024

Gumroad has recently raised its prices, and is now collecting 12.9% on each of your transactions. That's a lot, and far more than any of the competitors we feature in this article.

If you're an online content creator, an indie hacker, or a small business owner, you're probably familiar with Gumroad. It's a popular platform that allows creators to sell digital products directly to their audience. You may also have heard that Gumroad raised its prices earlier this year to a 13% actual fee (10% plus payment fee). These fees are much higher than most competitors, and I'll be honest with you: in my opinion, there is no justification for this huge difference.

So we are going to present you the best alternatives to Gumroad in 2024, all listed on Uneed.best of course!

Lemon Squeezy

Lemon Squeezy is in my opinion the closest platform to Gumroad today. They are a MoR (Merchant of Records), which means they collect the VAT for you, like Gumroad. Their UX/UI is much better than Gumroad's, and there are fewer bugs.

Lemon Squeezy allows you to sell subscriptions and digital goods and offers an integration either on your website or on a page dedicated to your products. It accepts many different payment methods, including Paypal, Apple pay, and Google pay.

At the time of writing, Lemon Squeeze does not yet offer an affiliate system. However, it should be available in the next few weeks.

It's a great option if you're looking for a simple and straightforward solution.

Whop is an all-in-one platform that lets you create, market, and sell digital products. It's a great option if you're looking for a more comprehensive solution than Gumroad. With Whop, you can create and sell online courses, memberships, and digital downloads.

The platform is relatively new, but already has an impressive range of features: Email and affiliation marketing, feedback collection, lots of integrations, an API…

Paddle is a Merchant of Records that allows creators to sell digital products and manage their online business.

It offers a range of features that make it easy to sell and distribute digital products, including ebooks, courses, and software. It is probably the most stable and oldest solution in our selection, and offers fraud detection, upsell insights, and solid documentation. Their account verification process can be long and tedious though (I've been there myself).

Payhip is a simple and affordable platform for selling digital products. It's popular among independent creators and small businesses because it's easy to use and comes with a range of features, including customizable storefronts, automated delivery, and integrated analytics.

It also offers the ability to sell physical products with inventory management, which most of its competitors do not offer. It also offers several themes for your online store, a blog CMS, as well as email and affiliate marketing.

Hive99 is a new competitor on the market, offering very low fees: 3% on each transactions. With Hive99, you can create an easily customizable online store where you can sell digital products (files, links, templates, images, videos, etc).
